Umbrex 50 is a high-concentration (50%) cream of Lipostabilized Pure Urea. It is a keratolytic and exfoliating treatment formulated for an intensive action on localized skin thickening, also facilitating any subsequent mechanical removal. It is not greasy and is quickly absorbed. Its innovative formula also offers a refreshing and emollient action.

Umbrex 50 is a cream with a keratolytic and exfoliating action containing 50% Lipostabilized Pure Urea, specific for the intensive treatment of extremely dry skin, skin thickening and calluses.
It is indicated for severe cases of:
- plantar warts,
- hyperkeratosis, psoriatic plaques and thickened nails (onychogryphosis)
- localized thickening on the feet, elbows and knees.
Umbrex 50 contains 50% Lipostabilized Pure Urea.
Urea is an organic compound that, when used topically, can have a moisturizing or keratolytic effect, depending on the concentration used. The moisturizing effect is obtained at low concentrations and is due to an increase in water-binding sites in the stratum corneum and a reduction in trans-epidermal water loss. The keratoreducing and keratolytic effect is instead obtained at higher concentrations (30-50%), and the mechanism appears to be the alteration, through the breaking of hydrogen bonds, of the quaternary structure of the keratin of the stratum corneum. Urea is thus able to denature and disperse keratin and thin the stratum corneum without damaging the skin barrier.
