Decapan 5 Lotion is a keratolytic lotion with 5% Salicylic Acid.

Dermatological Lotion, 80 ml bottle with dispenser pipette. Italian Parapharmaceutical Code: 973965027. CE Medical Device

Decapan 5 Lotion contains 5% Salicylic Acid.

Salicylic Acid is a lipid-soluble compound that can mix with the epidermal lipids and the sebaceous glands lipids and subsequently remove them. Salicylic Acid can also alter desmosomes (intercellular junction between corneocytes) thus leading to loosening and detachment of the superficial part of the stratum corneum. It therefore exerts keratolytic and comedolytic action. By inhibiting prostaglandins synthesis it also exerts antinflammatory action.
